Detailed Rating:
Overall, Madbid is a nice website. They aren’t scammers and deliver.
Strengths:
- nice traffic, some good deals
- established business that is known to deliver
- no issues with delivery, broken goods, shipping fees
Weaknesses:
- the auction ending
- the lack of diversity in their offer
- little chances to win
- no real access to their auction archives (crypted auction number)
Customer Feedback: 5/10
They is really a lot of feedback about Madbid on the web. Most of the people speaking about Madbid are extremely negative. Some think that only resellers with strategies and a lot of cash can make profit. Their system doesn’t protect the casual visitor. Anyway, it’s much better than Beezid.
Auction Ending: 3/10
All penny auction website have something in common. When you watch their homepage for the first time you have that disturbing feeling that auctions are never ending. (link when do auction end)
Products: 4/10
They are auctionning a lot more items than most sites. Most auction websites rely on electronics and high tech products as well as a lot of bid packs and vouchers.

Ease of use: 6/10
Madbid got a nice website which is really easy to use. Most of their auction modes are clear. A retail price on the homepage bids who be priceless.
Auction modes: 4/10
Very limited and not really thrilling. Classic and very boring.
There are three types of Auctions – Regular, Bid 4 Free, and Rookie Auctions:
(a) Regular Auction: Every auction has a countdown timer, usually between 1 and 8 minutes. When the timer reaches zero, the highest bidder wins. If someone bids, the timer restarts. Bid increases are made by only 1 penny at a time. You can bid by SMS (text message) from your UK mobile or through MadBid Online Account.
(b) Bid 4 Free Auction: The mechanics of the auction is exactly the same as for the Regular auction, except bids for this auction are completely free of charge. The winner has the right to buy the product for the auction closing price (plus shipping and handling). Please note that autobids are not allowed in Bid 4 Free auctions.
(c) Rookie Auctions (New to MadBid): At Madbid we like everyone to win! A Rookie Auction is exclusively for the users who haven’t won before. If you are new to Madbid this is the best way to learn how to bid and win. There is less competition on these auctions so you have a much better chance of winning your first auction. Once you have won an auction, you will not be able to participate in further Rookie auctions.
Prices: 3/10
Too high when compared to the chances to actually win something worth it. At least they are quite transparent on their margins and how much costs a win.
Chances to win: 3/10
Most people will tell you that they are never winning anything on Madbid. Their margins are too big and the chances to win too low. At least they are honest on real cost, bidding principles and so on. They are hiding a lot of data (not displaying all their archives unlike the contested Swoopo)
