Detailed Rating:
Overall, Swoopo is a nice website. They aren’t scammers and deliver.
UPDATE: Sept 2010 They have been changing a lot of things since their “Swoopo Naked” campaign. Swoopo has been drastically diminishing their margins (500%) and are now very competitive. They are having one of the best and sexiest auction mix.
Strengths:
- diversity of products
- a lot more credibility than other sites (great about us page, TV ads, notoriety)
- transparency (display bid2win and archives!)
- great traffic, loads of deals
- established business that is known to deliver
- no issues with delivery, broken goods, shipping fees
- chances to win
- less margins, more savings!
Weaknesses:
- the auction ending can be long and boring
- little restrictions to prevent resellers from bidding over « real » people
Customer Feedback: 7/10
Since April 2010, there are less and less people complaining about Swoopo. It was directly related to the model they incarnate, penny auctions.
Auction Ending: 5/10
All penny auction website hae something in common. When you watch their homepage for the first time you have that disturbing feeling that auctions are never ending. (link when do auction end)
Products: 9/10
Swoopo is mainly issuing auction on electronics and high tech products as well as a lot of bid packs and vouchers. Too little products to be fun and thrilling. Yet, they have enough traffic to auction loads of items.
Ease of use: 9/10
Swoopo got a nice website which is really easy to use. Most of their auction modes are clear. A retail price on the homepage bids who be priceless.
Auction modes: 5/10
They seem to be working on it. Not much innovation at the present time.
Prices: 8/10
Too high when compared to the chances to actually win something worth it. At least they are quite transparent on their margins and how much costs a win. There are really good deals and traps.
UPDATE: they have been having a “less margins, more savings” politics which is 100% verified (avg final price sinking -500%)
